I signed the letter above from Sarah Atherton MP for Wrexham to the Secretary of State for Transport, Rt Hon Mark Harper MP, alongside nine other MPs. The letter calls on the Secretary of State to work with the Office of Rail and Road (ORR) and the Department for Transport to ensure that the plans of the Wrexham, Shropshire & Midlands Railway (WSMR) to introduce a new direct daily train service between Wrexham General and London Euston is processed as quickly as possible.
WSMR put forward these well thought-out plans to the rail industry last year for consultation and plans to introduce new daily direct train services during 2025 between Wrexham General and London Euston, serving existing rail stations at Gobowen, Shrewsbury, Telford Central, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Coleshill Parkway, Nuneaton and Milton Keynes Central.
This will bring new, faster, and more direct train journey opportunities to Clwyd South as well as supporting the rail industry’s ongoing recovery and future growth potential
