Throughout 2022, my team and I have helped thousands of people in Clwyd South with problems they have encountered in their day-to-day lives and with enquiries about national and local issues. I have also raised many of these issues on behalf of Clwyd South residents in the chamber of the House of Commons and in meetings and correspondence with Ministers both at Westminster and in the Senedd in Cardiff. For me, this representation of your views and issues is the most important part of my job as your Member of Parliament.
2022 has proved an extremely challenging year for everyone in Clwyd South and elsewhere in the UK. The combination of the after-effects of Covid and Putin’s illegal invasion of Ukraine have caused numerous problems, not least high inflation and the cost of living crisis. The UK government nationally and my team and I locally are doing our very best to support you through these difficult times.
I have visited a wide range of schools, businesses, organisations and residents during the year and seen for myself the strong sense of community in Clwyd South, the hard work and innovation of our local businesses and the commitment of our County, Town and Community Councillors who always go the extra mile for their constituents.
I am pleased that the £13.3m Levelling Up Fund bid which I helped secure for Clwyd South from the UK government has started to be implemented with projects along the Dee Valley including in the World Heritage Site at the Trevor Basin, Llangollen and Corwen. We have so much to offer visitors to Clwyd South in terms of the Llangollen Canal and Steam Railway, our beautiful heritage and countryside, hotels, restaurants, pubs and cafes.
During the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June, I had the pleasure of attending events across the constituency and then, in September with the passing of her late Majesty the Queen, I had the honour of paying tribute to her remarkable life and steadfast character in the House of Commons on behalf of Clwyd South.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in Clwyd South who has done so much to sustain our communities throughout this year including our teachers, health professionals, care homes, churches, small and large businesses, police, retail and transport workers, Wrexham and Denbighshire Council staff, refuse disposal teams, charities, local organisations and volunteers.
Let’s hope 2023 is a better year for us all and please don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] if we can help on any matter. With my very best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – Nadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda.
