On Tuesday 24 November 2020, Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, asked the UK Government for information about how Clwyd South businesses and organisations can access practical guidance and support as the end of the EU transition period gets closer.
Mr Baynes asked the question to Wendy Morton MP, Minister for European Neighbourhood, during Departmental Questions to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
In her response, the Minister explained how businesses in Clwyd South are able to access information through the Welsh Government’s online EU transition portal at www.businesswales.gov.wales. She also highlighted how businesses can access the UK Government’s website at gov.uk, which provides comprehensive and up-to-date advice and includes step-by-step guides in key areas. The Minister also expressed how the UK Government is continuing to make excellent progress towards a comprehensive free-trade agreement with the EU to come into force in 2021.
Speaking later, Simon Baynes MP said:
“For businesses and organisations across Clwyd South and the UK, it is important that information is available as we approach the end of the transition period. I am very happy to hear that comprehensive information is available from the UK Government and the Welsh Government.
“As we near the end of the transition period, it is reassuring to know that the UK Government is continuing to make progress towards a free trade agreement with the European Union. I look forward to seeing a prosperous and independent UK outside of the EU and the opportunities this will bring.”
