On Monday, 4th September, Simon Baynes MP, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, attended the unveiling of the new portrait by Saied Dai of former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Theresa May MP in the State Rooms of Speaker’s House in his capacity as a member of the Speaker's Advisory Committee on Works of Art.
Mr Baynes had previously visited Saied Dai at his home in Somerset to see the portrait as it was being painted.
Speaking after the event, Mr Baynes described how he believed that the portrait is a testament to the dedication and impressive career of Theresa May. He further outlined how the painting will now serve as part of a moving timeline of British political history that includes those who have dedicated themselves to public service in the highest of offices.
