Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, recently visited the Canolfan Ceiriog Centre in the Ceiriog Valley to show support for their annual family fun day on 19th August.
During the visit, Mr Baynes met with Cllr Trevor Bates and members of the Ceiriog Valley community for an enjoyable day in the Ceiriog Valley. The event featured a bouncy castle assault course, a bike track, stalls, face painting and family entertainment. Unfortunately, the duck race was unable to take place due to low river levels but is now due to be rescheduled.
Mr Baynes praised the enjoyable event for bringing the community together, and thanked everyone involved for their contribution in helping the event take place.
Cllr Trevor Bates said:
“I was very pleased that Simon was able to visit our event at Glyn Ceiriog on August 19th, and to hear about some of the issues affecting local residents. He was also here to see the good work that our Community Council is doing for the youth of the area and to visit the Ceiriog Memorial Institute where there is a brilliant museum and fantastic stained glass windows commemorating the lives people who shaped the locality. There are tributes to well-known bards and a smaller version of the painting of St David that hangs in the Houses of Parliament.”
Mr Baynes said:
“I want to say a very big thank you to everyone involved in putting on such an enjoyable day for families in the Ceiriog Valley. It was a wonderful day enjoyed by everyone and I would like to pay a special thanks to North Wales Police who contributed £250 towards hiring the bike track, in addition to £450 coming from Glyn Ceiriog Community Council and £450 from Wrexham Youth Services. I would also like to thank all of the volunteers who helped to organise it and assisted on the day.”
