Simon Baynes, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, has recently chaired a meeting of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Woods and Trees to celebrate the launch of The Woodland Trust’s Nature Recovery Report for England.
The event, held in the Houses of Parliament on the 27th June, was attended by a number of Parliamentarians from both houses, along with representatives from groups such as the RSPB and Natural England.
The Report in question highlighted a number of concerns relating to the state of woodland within England, including that, in their opinion, only 9% of England’s woods are in a good ecological condition. It also noted the decline in species abundance, and highlighted potential steps that could be taken to address these concerns.
Further reports covering Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are set to be released by the Woodland Trust in the coming months.
