Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, recently sponsored a Parliamentary Reception in the House of Commons with Mondelēz International, whose iconic brands include Cadbury, Maynards Bassetts, Ritz and many more.
One of Mondelēz International’s factories is based in Chirk, in Mr Baynes’ Clwyd South constituency, where cocoa beans are processed, and fresh milk is added to make Cadbury’s Dairy Milk bars.
The event, which was attended by more than 150 MPs, gave Members and their staff the opportunity to learn more about the company, its brands and its ongoing work in constituencies across the UK.
Mondelēz International UK Managing Director, Louise Stigant said:
“Our annual Parliamentary reception is always a treat for colleagues and MPs alike. The event is an opportunity to bring to life our significant contribution to the UK, through our employment of 4,000 people, our footprint of 10 sites including our cocoa-processing plant in Chirk, and the many lives and livelihoods we touch including supporting thousands of families and small businesses - from British Farmers and suppliers to logistics and retail employees.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“I was delighted to see so many MP colleagues at the event supporting and learning more about the work of Mondelēz International. Their Cadbury’s factory in Chirk does great work processing cocoa beans and adding fresh milk to make one of the UK’s most iconic chocolate bars. And I am thrilled that so many other MPs were able to try a great product of Clwyd South themselves!”
