During a recent MP advice surgery in Llangollen, Member of Parliament, Simon Baynes MP, learnt more about a local coworking project and the potential benefits for constituents in Clwyd South.
On Friday 11th February, Mr Baynes met with Mike McKenna to hear about the work of the Cowork Local Project. The project aims to support local businesses by having people work within their own communities. Not only will this give people the benefits of working closer to home - getting up later, ditching the commute and saving money - but it will also give them a professional environment to work within, without the distractions and difficulties of living and working from the same space.
Cowork Local venues also provide an alternative workspace for businesses and their employees, with a strong emphasis on developing local economies, communities and the environment. Currently, Cowork Local is working alongside Denbighshire County Council in North Wales and The Vale of Glamorgan Council and Swansea Council in South Wales.
The project is being run by coworking and small business experts, Town Square Spaces Ltd (TownSq), which operates several existing coworking hubs across England and Wales. It’s made possible by the UK Government through the Community Renewal Fund and delivered alongside Denbighshire County Council to create coworking spaces in the region.
Mr Baynes was able to understand more about the Project and the way in which it is able to help those who work from home and also those who commute, with Cowork Local seeking to provide the best of both worlds, combining work spaces, with convenient locations close to where people live.

Community Coordinator for Cowork Local in Denbigshire, Mike McKenna said:
“It was great to speak with Simon and talk about the project and its aims. As the MP for the area, Simon will be connected to numerous organisations and individuals who might be looking for support and has already suggested some constituents who might benefit from Cowork Local.
“We’re aiming to give everyone in Denbighshire the chance to work closer to home to the benefit of their local towns and high streets. When people work locally they shop locally, and by connecting with established community figures, we hope to reach as many people and businesses as possible.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“It was a pleasure to meet with Mike and learn more about the Cowork Local Project that aims to create co-working spaces across Denbighshire. I was delighted that Mike took the time to come to my MP Advice Surgery in Llangollen to explain how this will help communities across Denbighshire, where this Project is currently running. The pandemic has highlighted different ways that we are able to work and I look forward to seeing how the project is able to benefit those working in Denbighshire.”
