On 7th January 2021, Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, met Nancy Kelley, the Chief Executive of Stonewall, via Zoom to discuss the importance of LGBT-inclusive education so that every young person can feel accepted, included and safe. As well as the damaging practice of ‘conversion therapy' which the UK Government is committed to ending.
Nancy Kelley, Chief Executive, Stonewall (she/her) said:
“It was terrific to speak with Simon Baynes about how to advance equality for LGBT+ people. We look forward to working with Simon to bring LGBT-inclusive education to every school and deliver an effective ban on LGBT+ conversion therapy.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“I was delighted to meet Nancy and to discuss issues around LGBT inclusivity, which is vitally important to give every young person the best educational experience. And the damaging practice of so-called ‘conversion therapy’, which I, along with the UK Government, am committed to ending in order for everyone in our country, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, to live freely.”
