Simon Baynes, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, opened the Corwen Fireworks Display on Saturday, 4th November.
The free event was attended by around 1,400 people, including 200 people who arrived on the Llangollen Steam Railway train. Attendees were able to enjoy fireworks designed and supplied by Emma Sciesinska of Uproar Fireworks of Llangollen, along with live music.
The Display was organised by Andrea Ellison, Cllr Alan Hughes, Martin Lyons, Arwel Hughes and Ali Al-Bayati, along with other members of the Corwen Fireworks Volunteers. Additionally, the event was supported by Corwen Town Council, Corwen FC and the Corwen Fire Brigade.
Funds raised by sponsorship from Dragon Drilling and other local businesses, a cash raffle, the sale of novelty items as well as food and drinks plus generous donations on the night more than covered the cost of the free event.
Cllr Alan Hughes, speaking after the event, said:
“I would like to thank everybody who attended tonight, and all who donated to make this such a special event for Corwen.”
Speaking after the event, Mr Baynes said:
“The Corwen Fireworks Display was an amazing evening. I was very honoured to open the fireworks which was a free event with about 1,400 people attending including 200 people arriving on the Llangollen Steam Railway train. The fireworks display was truly spectacular. It is four years since the last Corwen Fireworks were held but it is now firmly re-established as a hugely popular annual event enjoyed by families and all ages."
