Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, made a socially distanced visit to Neatcrown in Corwen on Friday 17 July to learn about how the company and its workforce have adapted to social distancing guidelines during the Covid-19 pandemic and continue to see a strong growth in production.
The company, which is based at Station Yard Industrial Estate, provides state-of-the-art packing and chemical manufacturing, including agrochemicals, disinfectant and hand sanitisers, for a diverse range of sectors. Its products include WD-40 household cleaning fluids and Provanto garden protection products which are sold in supermarkets nationwide. Neatcrown has been based in Corwen for 40 years, is a key employer locally and has diversified in recent years into an international operation.
During the visit, Simon Baynes MP was given a tour of the factory and production lines by the Managing Director Colin Roberts and Chairman Ben Griffiths. Mr Baynes praised the staff for observing social distancing guidelines while continuing to produce high-quality products. He also met Simon Loftus (Filling & Engineering Operations Manager) and Mary Williams (Line Leader), who has worked at the factory for 37 years and is one of the longest serving employees at Neatcrown, and Gina Evans who also works as a Line Leader.
Neatcrown Chairman, Ben Griffiths, said:
“We have been incredibly grateful for Simon’s support through Covid-19; we have been in regular contact on a range of issues, and have emerged as a much stronger business. We have been proud to supplement our Agrochemical range with hand sanitisers for the NHS during lockdown, and have been incredibly proud to help key workers if only in a small way.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“Neatcrown is a key local employer in Clwyd South and plays such a vital role in our local economy. I was incredibly impressed to see first-hand the adaptations they’ve made as a company to keep their workers safe and continue to produce an extensive range of products for a large number of industries.
“It’s great to see a local Corwen business doing so well both at home and abroad. And I look forward to seeing Neatcrown continue to grow as a company over the months and years ahead.”
