On Friday 7th May, Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, made a socially distanced visit to meet the team at Ruabon Medical Centre to hear about their work looking after the community, and in particular, their successful work in delivering the Covid-19 vaccination programme.
During the visit, Mr Baynes thanked staff for their tireless work on behalf of residents and the local community, particularly getting in touch with all their patients directly about their vaccinations. This has involved going the extra mile for their patients for which everyone in the Ruabon community is very grateful. He also met with the four partners who took over the Ruabon GP practice in February this year - Dr Hulya Alaca, Dr Syed Ather M Jilani, Dr Suhair S Alwan and Dawn Hughes Lloyd (Partner and Manager). Dr Alaca informed Mr Baynes about some of the recent challenges and successes for the Medical Centre as a result of the pandemic.
Dawn Hughes Lloyd, Practice Manager at Ruabon Medical Centre, said:
“It was lovely to welcome Simon Baynes to Ruabon Medical Centre albeit socially distanced of course and it was wonderful to see him make an effort to get to know the team at Ruabon and take an interest in the surgery as well. We, as a partnership, would like to thank the staff and the team at Ruabon Medical Centre for working tirelessly to deliver an excellent vaccination programme as well as delivering services and pathways to our patients during these very difficult times and during the pandemic especially.
“We have made some significant changes to the practice in the short space of time we have been here and we hope to continue to improve service provision for our patients and the community of Ruabon. We have installed a new telephone system and are almost ready to go live with a new website which will host a vast amount of information and links for our patients.
“We also wish to thank the patients who have welcomed the new partners and offered such wonderful feedback to our team of whom we are so very proud – we are very grateful.
“Ruabon Medical Centre has excellent support networks with the community and the local newsletters and a Facebook Support Page run by a member of the community is an example of working collaboratively. We cannot thank this person enough for everything they do for the surgery and for Ruabon patients and the community as they really do make a huge difference in supporting communication to the patients and community of Ruabon and are such an inspiration to us all. Thank you and thank you to Simon for the visit and support as well.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“The team at Ruabon Medical Centre have done some really impressive work, particularly in rolling out the vaccination programme locally and also in other areas such as helping patients with mental health issues and continuing to keep up with the demand for prescriptions during the Covid-19 pandemic. It was a great pleasure to meet the doctors and staff and I want to wish them all the very best for the future as they continue to serve families in Ruabon and the surrounding area.”
