Simon Baynes, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, has today had the pleasure of meeting with the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP, to discuss the news that the UK government has increased the amount available through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, helping more households to install heat pumps in Clwyd South and elsewhere.
The changes mean that the grant for air source heat pumps has increased by 50%, from £5,000 to £7,500. In addition, the grant for ground source heat pumps has also increased from £6,000 to £7,500. The increased amount first became available to households on Monday 23rd October.
The changes mean that for some households, the cost of replacing a boiler with a heat pump or equivalent is the same or sometimes cheaper than replacing it with a traditional fossil fuel boiler.
