Simon Baynes MP, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, welcomed County Councillor Beverley Parry-Jones, Wrexham Council’s Armed Forces Champion, to a Reception held at No 10 Downing Street for local veterans with Veterans’ Minister, Rt Hon Johnny Mercer MP, on 12th September.
Cllr Parry-Jones has represented the Bryn Cefn ward on Wrexham Council since 2017, and, alongside her role as the Council’s Armed Forces Champion, she also serves as the Vice Chair of the North Wales Armed Forces Forum. At the Reception, Cllr Parry-Jones had the opportunity to meet with Rt Hon Johnny Mercer MP, the Minister of State for Veterans’ Affairs, who hosted the Reception on behalf of the Government.
Cllr Parry-Jones, speaking after the Reception, said:
“I am honoured to have had the opportunity to represent Wrexham Council at the Veterans’ Reception at No 10 Downing Street. The UK Government has put veterans’ welfare at the heart of its agenda, as shown through the establishment of the Office for Veterans’ Affairs and elevating the Minister responsible, Rt Hon Johnny Mercer MP, to the Cabinet.
Going forward, I will continue to proudly support Wrexham’s veterans’ community in my capacity as the Council’s Armed Forces Champion. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Simon Baynes MP for providing me with an invitation to this once in a lifetime event.”
Mr Baynes, speaking after the event, said:
“Cllr Parry-Jones has excelled in her role as Wrexham Council’s Armed Forces Champion, and I am proud to have had the opportunity to recognise her excellent work at No 10 Downing Street. In addition to serving as a brilliant local champion for the people of the Bryn Cefn ward, she has shown her dedication to our veterans’ community both in Clwyd South and across North Wales.”
