Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes, this week praised Clwyd South Army and Air Cadets to Defence Ministers in the Chamber of the House of Commons.
Mr Baynes asked Minister for the Armed Forces, James Heappey MP, to join him in praising their work in helping vulnerable residents in Clwyd South and for keeping up their training and recruitment activities with, for instance, virtual training sessions with the Welsh Guards during the COVID crisis.
In response James Heappey MP said:
“My hon. Friend is right to champion the activities of the Armed Forces Cadets and Air Force Cadets in Clwyd South. It is amazing to hear what they have done to support their community during the coronavirus crisis, but also the cadets in his constituency and across the country have done an amazing job, through the commitment of their adult volunteers, to keep virtual training going throughout the pandemic, which has been hugely valuable to young people across the country.”
Speaking later, Simon Baynes MP said:
“The Army and Air Force Cadets in Clwyd South provide a wide range of opportunities and experiences for our young people. And they’re a real and very valuable asset to the local community – and they deserve this recognition for their hard work.
“The Army Cadets based in Brynteg, Rhos, Cefn Mawr, Llangollen and Corwen as well as the 856 Chirk and 1251 (Berwyn) Ruabon Air Cadets are a real credit to our community, and I’m proud to praise their work as the local MP with Ministers on the floor of the House of Commons.”
