Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, made a socially distanced visit to Cefn Mawr Community Social Club on Thursday 9 July to learn more about the work of volunteers to upgrade the Club which is at the heart of the Cefn Mawr community
Officers and members of the Club, including Matthew Roberts (Chairman), Mark Owen (Vice-Chairman), Angela Jones (Club Secretary) and Alan Davies (Senior Committee Member), have worked night-and-day to improve the facilities and deal with wages, bills, and keep the cellar stocked and updated. The Club has also successfully applied for grant funding to help ensure its long-term future.
Matthew Roberts, the Chairman of Cefn Mawr Community Social Club, said:
“The team at the Club and local firms have been invaluable towards all the essential works for the up-keep and the ongoing new look to the future of our great community Club. We would like to thank all our volunteers and like to thank everyone involved in the Club for all their hard work. During this period we have been working hard to make sure the club is made safe for when we welcome back our members and visitors new and old.
Simon Baynes MP said:
“Everyone at the Club has worked so incredibly hard both to improve the facilities and ensure the Club is ready to re-open. I was very impressed to see the upgrades being implemented and I think the refurbished facilities will serve the community in Cefn Mawr extremely well. I look forward to visiting the Club again soon.”
