Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, has welcomed the Comprehensive Spending Review for Wales, announced on Wednesday 25th November 2020 by Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak MP.
The Spending Review announced by the UK Government will see Wales benefit from an extra £1.3 billion during 2021/2022. It has also been announced that Wales will benefit from the £100 billion being spent across the UK on capital investment. This will allow for the creation of jobs and growing the economy, through improving connectivity and productivity.
Mr Baynes praised the UK Government for their efforts in ensuring all parts of the United Kingdom are well funded during the Covid-19 pandemic, through schemes like the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), Self Employed Income Support Scheme (SEISS) and investing more than £1.6bn in over 50,000 businesses through the Bounce Bank Loan Scheme and the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme in Wales.
