Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, has welcomed the news that households in Clwyd South and the rest of Wales will get a cash payment from the UK Government starting from July to ease cost of living pressures.
426,000 households in Wales will receive the first of two cost of living instalments totalling £650 from 14 July, part of the UK Government’s £1,200 support package this year. This comes as part of the UK Government’s £37 billion government package to help families with cost of living pressures. Tax credit claimants will also receive their first instalment of the cost of living payment from HMRC later this year.
In Clwyd South, 9,400 families are eligible for the means-tested payment and 8,500 Individuals are eligible for a disability payment.
Secretary of State for Wales Simon Hart said:
“Thousands of households across Wales will receive this direct and targeted support in the coming months to ease the pressures that many people are experiencing. Tackling the challenges around the cost of living is a key priority for the UK Government and these cash payments show that we will take the necessary action at the time it is needed.”
