On Friday 21st July, the Member of Parliament for Clwyd South, Simon Baynes MP, visited Chirk Community Hospital to tour the site and learn about the recent projects at Chirk Community Hospital funded by the hospital’s Circle of Friends.
Since 2010 the Circle of Friends of Chirk Hospital have raised over £480,000 for the hospital, helping to maintain it for the local community. During his visit, Mr Baynes met with Jackie Allen, Dot Griffiths Sheila Dee and Barbara Humphries from the Circle for a tour of the refurbished gardens, including the new Dementia Area which was built by volunteers from Brother Industries. He also learned about the Ultrasound machine which has been paid for by the Circle of Friends.
Jackie Allen, speaking after the visit, said:
“The Circle of Friends of Chirk Hospital were delighted to have the opportunity of showing their MP Simon Baynes the major improvements to the grounds of Chirk Hospital. It has been a busy year for the Circle culminating in the refurbishment of the gardens and a new purpose-built Dementia Area. The community will also benefit from a new Ultrasound machine that the Circle has ordered, and which is due for imminent delivery. We will continue to work at the Hospital for the benefit of the Community, Patients and Staff.”
Simon Baynes MP said:
“Chirk Community Hospital plays a vital role for both the people of Chirk and the surrounding area. The fundraising work of the Circle of Friends has been vital in ensuring that the hospital is able to provide sophisticated care and support to residents. The improvements to the gardens and grounds look fantastic and the group should be very proud of all that they have achieved for this much-loved community hospital.”
