Theatr Clwyd is much loved by people in Clwyd South so I was delighted that, as part of the recent Budget Statement, £1.6 million is being given by the UK government towards the redevelopment of the theatre.
The campaign to secure these UK government funds has been led by my colleague Dr James Davies MP who represents the Vale of Clwyd and is a true champion of Welsh arts and culture.
The funds will contribute towards the ongoing fundraising to help redevelop the largest producing theatre in Wales. Theatr Clwyd is known for its world class theatre productions and support for the Welsh language.
I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Liam Evans-Ford, the Executive Director of Theatr Clwyd, at a reception in the House of Commons hosted by James and which celebrated the theatre’s economic, social and cultural impact in North Wales and North West England since its establishment in 1976.
